So, I recently decided to take a solo trip to the city of Agra to get away from the hustle bustle of the busy work life of Delhi. I chose Agra because of its close vicinity to Delhi-my home town. A good drive down the Taj Expressway takes 2 to 3 hours at max for one to reach Agra from Delhi-a ride which any petrol head will definitely like to take. An early morning start gave me an advantage of reaching Agra by 09:00hrs and have better part of the day at my disposal to spend in Agra. place to visit in Agra, and as any person visiting Agra will have it, Taj Mahal was the first place on my list of destinations after I settled myself in my hotel.
The roads of Agra are like any other city in India-full of chaos and crowded to the capacity. Best Places to Eat Near Taj Mahal So is the city in general. The development has been unorganized and dense. But once one reaches the Taj Mahal complex, it seems as if one has entered a different world altogether and perhaps a different era too. Amidst the crowded and densely populated city, stands this beautiful complex which is an epitome of architectural marvel. This complex has symmetrical gardens, various monuments, perfectly aligned water bodies and an astoundingly beautiful Taj Mahal amidst it. The visit to Taj Mahal made me be in awe of the architectural marvel that this monument is. No wonder so many people around the world come to visit it.
After a greatly awe-inspiring and satisfying visit to the Taj Mahal, the foodie in me wanted to have some great food to eat which keep the satisfaction levels up. Thus, I searched for best places to eat near Taj Mahal for two reasons-one that I am not very fond of driving on crowded roads and prefer having places in my vicinity, and secondly because I wanted to eat at a place which had a good view of the monument of love. A little Google search showed me a few options and I stumbled upon this beautiful looking restaurant called The Salt Café which claimed to be one of the best restaurants in Agra. Since the pictures and reviews supported the claim, I decided to visit this place, which is situated on Fatehabad Road in Tajgang.
The moment I entered into the restaurant, the whole first impression of it did make me feel charmed. Having various sections in it, the interiors were both chic and very well thought of. There was a casual dining section which had that peppy and energetic vibe, the fine dining section definitely reflected that vibe in its design. I sat in the casual dining section as its energy added to my mood and the music was fun. I was impressed to see the high frequency of footfall of foreign tourists which visited this place. It reflects on the credibility and quality of the place as such tourists don’t compromise on quality and want the best possible quality which their money has to offer. Proud of my choice of place, I got confused with my choice of food due to the huge variety of North India, Chinese, American and Continental food which they have. I tried a few dishes as I have a huge appetite and had all the time in the world, along with a drink. Not only the bar was huge and impressive to look at, it also had a good variety.
I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of food and the warmth with which the staff treated me. The latter is definitely a rare trait to have these days.
A few recurring visits to the place over the next few days made me interact with the staff and I got to know of a Santorini styled rooftop which left me in the same awe and reaction as Taj Mahal induced in me. The live music nights, which they arrange very frequently, is one experience not to be missed. The Taj Mahal in the backdrop adds subtly yet impressively to the whole magic of the evening.
I definitely recommend people who plan to visit Agra in near future to visit this lovely restaurant and add it to their must visit destination visit if they like good food and an amazing dining experience.
